Cast: Surya, Asin, Charanraj, Lakshmi, Aiswarya, Saranya, Kalabhavan Mani Director:Hari Producer:M.Chintamani Music:Yuvan Shankar Raja Date of Release: Nov 9th, 2007
Hari is one of the best commercial directors in Kollywood. He is back with yet another flick 'Vel'. The
director has presented a racy film that has all the necessary elements like action, sentiment and romance.
The script is nothing new but its presentation is good. Hari has selected experienced starcast for his
film.
The story starts with a couple (Saranya and Charanraj) losing one of their three-month old twin children
on a train journey. The children grow up in different locations and backgrounds. One is Vasudevan (Surya)
who grows in Chennai and becomes an officer in a private investigative agency and the other is Vetrivel
(Surya again) who grows in Dindukkal and becomes a typical village young man.
Vasudevan falls in love with VJ Asin and impresses her through his professional beliefs. Vel is engaged in a fight with Sakkara Pandi (Kalabhavan Mani), who has deep rooted hostility against the family. Vasu's mother cannot forget her other son and hence Vasu tries to find his twin brother. Once Asin finds
Vel and informs Vasu. When Vasu meets Vel, the twins find themselves caught in deep frustration over
their overturned lives. Then they decide to swap places. What happens next is a predictable story of how
the family gets reunited.
Performances:
Surya excels in his performance. He is sure to win his fans heart in his dual roles. Asin looks charming
in her attire and looks. Saranya and Charanraj have done justice to their roles as Surya's parents.
Kalabhavan Mani suits well as a baddie. Vadivelu's comedy is amazing. Raj Kapoor as Surya's uncle is
alright. The others have done upto the content. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is pleasant. Story and
direction are routine. The other technical aspects are okay.
