Cast: Sundar C, Prakash Raj, Gopika, Vivek, Santhanam, Sumithra, Thejashree Director:Bhadri Producer:Krishnamoorthy Vijayakumar, Sujatha Vijayakumar Music:D.Imman Date of Release: July 27th, 2007

This seems to be the season for films that portray the father-son relationship. Recently,
Ajith's 'Kireedom' also had the same theme. 'Veerappu', directed by Bhadri, is also a remake of
Malayalam film. But it is different from 'Kireedom' as the film focuses on the attitudes of a
father and a son. The director, being a debutante, has done a brave attempt. His selection of
cast is good.
Story:
Vedhakannu (Prakash Raj) is a high school maths teacher and a President's medal winner in
mathematics. He maintains strict discipline. He wants his son, Pandi (Sundar C) also to be like
him. But Pandi is bad at maths. Though he has no penchant for maths, he is good at designing and
producing mechanical and electronic gadgets. His creativeness do not impress his father.
Even after various attempts by Vedhakannu, Pandi could not get interested in Maths. Many years
later, Pandi emerges a local rowdy and is wanted by the police in many unsolved crimes. Pandi
comes across a teacher Bharathy (Gopika) and falls in love with her. And how the father and the
son regret for what they had done to each other, forms the rest of the movie.
Performance:
Sundar C has done an excellent job. His action sequences are good. Prakash Raj is superb. The
sequences between Sundar C and Prakash Raj are impressive. Gopika is appealing. Her chemistry
with Sundar C is interesting on screen. Vivek is alright. The others did upto the content.
Imman's music is pleasant. The story is simple but the screenplay is good. The other technical
aspects are okay.
