It now seems to be the season of rural themes in Kollywood. After 'Paruthi Veeran', here comes 'Thirumagan'. The film is directed by Ratnakumar. He has come out with a good entertainer. Though the storyline is familiar, the brilliant screenplay and quick sequence of events make it engrossing. The film is packed with required amount of action, romance to attract the fans of S.J.Suryah.
Story:
Thangapandi (S.J.Suryah) is a fun-loving villager. His father Malaisamy (Vijaya Kumar) had once enjoyed huge wealth and is admired by the
villagers for his honesty. Thangapandi meets Mayyakka (Meera Jasmine), a pretty pot seller. Slowly love blossoms between them and they
resolve to enter wedlock. Then enters Thangapandi's relative, Rasathi (Preethi Verma) who wants to marry him. Meanwhile Malaisamy promises
his friend Sivalingam (Radha Ravi) that he would arrange Thangapandi's marriage with his physically challenged daughter Vairam (Lakshana).
When Malaisamy asks Thangapandi to marry Vairam, he refuses and tells about his relationship with Mayyakka. Soon Malaisamy dies due to
heart attack without his last wish fulfilled. Now Thangapandi's life is filled with problems. And how is finally solves them and marries Mayyakka is to
be seen on the silver screen.
Performance:
S.J.Suryah excels in his performance. His getup as a villager is interesting. Meera Jasmine does a good job. She looks charming even in her
village attire. The chemistry between them deserves special mention. Preethi Verma does her job well. Lakshana and Malavika has got limited
roles to play. Vijaya Kumar suits the role of Suryah's father. Radha Ravi is adequate. Music by Deva is pleasant. Cinematography is amazing.
Story, screenplay are fine. The other technical aspects are alright.
