Suresh Krishna who directed Superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in the past, has come out
with a simple venture, 'Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram'. The film is a remake of Kannada
blockbuster 'Jogi'. Suresh Krishna has dealt with both cruelty of underworld and the mother-son
sentiment. This kind of stories are often repeated in Kollywood.
Azhagu Sundaram (Dhanush) is the only son to his parents. His mother (Archana) dotes on him.
Azhagu's father dies of some disease and he moves to Chennai in search of a job. Sequence of events
force Azhagu to change his name to Parrattai. From an innocent youth, he goes on to become a
gangster. As ever, he is the don with the heart of gold, who commands respect from people around
him. Meanwhile Parattai's mother leaves her village in search of Parattai and comes to the city. Are
they destined to meet each other? To know the answer, watch the film on the screen.
Performance:
Dhanush does an excellent job as Azhagu Sundaram and Parrattai. His performance deserves a
mention. Meera Jasmine looks gorgeous on screen. She enacted an impressive role. The chemistry
between Dhanush and Meera Jasmine is interesting. Archana, the National award winner, steals the
entire show with her dedicated performance. Her emotions on screen are really good. Santhanam as
Dhanush's friend is alright. The others have played upto the content. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is
the main asset of the film. Dialogues are fine. The story could have been different. Suresh Krishna's
direction is flawless. The other technical aspects are alright.
