A core sentiment story,'Pandi' is directed by Madhuravan. With this movie you realize that the director's intentions may be sincere, to make a full-on entertainer.
The film casts Lawrence, Sneha in the lead. It is produced by Nemichand Jabhak. A good music is presented by Srikanth Deva.
The movie is about Pandi (Lawrence) who grows up as a vagabond but is a nice guy helping those in need and friends around him. Pandi's father Sundarapandi
(Nasser) is a school teacher and has the slightest regard for Pandi since he considers him useless. However, his wife Sivakami (Saranya) dotes on Pandi and
keeps defending her son at every given instant. Meanwhile, Pandi bumps across Bhuvana (Sneha) in a chance incident and from then on few twists happen which
lead them to fall in love. Also, there is the famous dancer Chitrangi (Namitha) who is a good friend of Pandi. Trouble begins when Seetharamaiah pledges his land
and gets a loan for his daughter's wedding, without anyone's knowledge his other son takes the money and elopes with his lover and Seetharamaiah suspects it is
Pandi's doing. Also, his friendship with Chitrangi causes misunderstanding for Bhuvana who also leaves him. In all this, his mother still takes his side. With great
difficulty, Pandi manages a loan and gets his sister married. In order to repay the loan, he moves to Dubai and starts doing all sorts of jobs to clear the loan. What
happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Perfarmanse:
The director has come up with a core mass subject with an overdose of sentiment. The subject was simple but the presentation was dragged, the narration of the
plot was just about elongated since there was not much in the story to complete the two hour plus frame. The music is okay and it has a lot of Tamil flavour
attached to it, the remix song was good and added a punch. Camera was average, the script was normal and the screenplay was nothing great. Lawrence as
usual hogged all the frames in the movie while Sneha did the glamour bit and the sentimental bit. Namitha was merely used for the songs and had nothing to offer.
Nasser had a meaty role and delivers a performance with efficiency. Saranya as the doting mother was a perfect match. The others were just about okay but did
not have much to offer since their role was limited.
