Cast: Bharath, Meera Jasmine, Prem, Govind Namdeo Director:VZ Dorai Producer:Rama Saravanan Music:Srikanth Deva Date Of Release: April 12th, 2008
'Nepali' is directed by V.Z.Durai. There were many expectations on the film before its release as it casts Bharath in a
triple role. The director has taken an outdated subject. 'Nepali' has nothing new to offer. The narration too is not up to
the mark. Hence the movie fails to live up to all expectations.
Karthik (Bharath) is a software engineer from Chennai. He meets Priya (Meera Jasmine) in a hill station. After a string of
cheery exchanges, love blossoms between them. Priya's parents reject the affair. The couple walk out of the house and get
married. Priya's parents suspect Karthik has seduced Priya and hence file a complaint against him. Unexpectedly, the officer
who investigates the case falls for Priya's charm and tries to molest her. In the attempt, Priya gets killed and the blame
falls on Karthik. He kills the police officer and goes to jail where he meets a Nepali social worker (Govind Namdeo) who tips
the police with information regarding serious crimes in the city. Inspired by the Nepali, Karthik comes out of the prison to
punish those who misbehave with women at workplace. He kills a computer engineer, a professor and a doctor dressed as a
Nepali youth. A special officer Gautham (Prem) takes up the task of finding the criminal. And to know who is the real
culprit, watch the film on the screen.
Performances:
Bharath has done well. It is indeed a matured performance. There is more potential in the role. Meera Jasmine does her role
with ease. She adds glamour and value to the story. The Bharath-Meera Jasmine romance is a low point in the film. Prem is
alright as a special officer. Govind Namdeo, as the old man in jail, has done a good job. Charan Raj is fine. Dhandapani is
alright. Raja Ravinder and others have done well with their limited roles. Music by Srikanth Deva is good. Story is of first
rate. Madhi's cinematography is efficient. A weak narration in the second half makes the film little bore. The other aspects
are alright.
