'Naalai' is yet another gansters movie. It is directed by debutant director Udayabhanu Maheshwaran. The story revolves around the friendship between two gangsters. The director has taken it as a challenge to hold the touching segments in the relationship of two individuals, condemned by the society.
Justin (Richard) and Nattu (Natraj) are orphans who work as henchmen to Nair (Nasser). They are his loyal servants. However a set of events results in Nair developing mistrust and hatred on the two. He employs another youth in their place and plans to kill them. In the process, Justin ends up in prison and Nattu loses his leg. After three years Justin comes out of jail. Nattu and Justin decides to lead a peaceful life. Charu (Madhumitha), a girl next door falls in love with Justin and both decide to marry. Meanwhile a reformed Nair seeks appology to Justin and Nattu before his death.
However when everything goes smooth in their lives, previous enmity leaves Nair's henchmen to kill Justin which eventually claims the life of Charu. And how both the friends take revenge on their enemies forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Richard, who did romantic roles earlier, did the role of a gangster well. Nataraj did his role with lots of ease. His dialogue delivery is impressive. Madhumitha played a ladylove to Richard. She suited the role. Nasser, as a baddie, did a good job. The others did upto the content. Music by Karthik Raja is good. All the technical aspects are fine.
