'Lee' is directed by Prabhu Solomon. This is the debut film produced under the banner of Nathambal Film Factory, by Sathyaraj. The director has
selected football as the film's background and it works well. The director succeeds in bringing out the talents from the artistes like Sibiraj.
Story:
Leeladharan aka Lee (Sibiraj) is one among the bunch of merry youth. They make their living by doing small jobs and play football in their leisure
time. Chellam (Nila), a worker in a hospital for the mentally-challenged, is also a part of this group. Life is all merry until one day when she finds
Lee and his group attempting to shoot a Minister with a gun. Chellam is shocked. She demands to know if thy are terrorists. And the flash back
begins -
Lee and his friends were part of football team of a college. They have a committed mentor in Butthiran (Prakash Raj). Though a coach, he is a
friend and a philosopher for the youngsters. The head of the institution Rangabashyam (Jahir) wants his son to be in this all-conquering team. But
Butthiran refuses to take him in the team. Enraged Rangabashyam throws the team including Butthiran out of college. They join in another college
and start doing well as a team. They even win a tournament. Soon, Rangabashyam, with his tricks, rises as a sport's minister. With this post he
creates big hurdles for Butthiran's team and does not allow them to play in any of the tournament. The situation turns so severe that one of the
team member commits suicide. Unable to tolerate this, Lee and his group decide to take revenge on the Minister. Finally what happens to the
rivalry of Rangabashyam and Lee's team and Chellam's relationship with the team is to be seen on the screen.
Performance:
Sibiraj has done a commendable job. The young scion of the Sathyaraj family has been waiting for the right break in films for a while. And with
'Lee' he is sure to get it. Nila has performed well as Sibiraj's friend. Prakash Raj has done a great job as the inspiring coach. Jahir has done well
as a baddie. Music by Imman is good. All the songs are catchy. Story is simple but the direction is good. Stunts are interesting. Dialogues and
editing are adequate. The other technical aspects are okay.
