Synopsis Director Ram Prabha is back with an interesting story. 'Kalinga' has a storyline that resembles 'Chithiram Pesuthadi'. The director has failed to hold the subject firmly throughout the movie.
Kalinga (Bala) lives in Chennai and does everything with the help of his friends. His mentor Chanakya (Rajan P.Dev) takes care of him and uses him for his own work. One day, Kalinga comes across Jothi (Nandana) and falls for her beauty. When all his attempts to woo her fail, he tries to reform himself. He learns that she is a Sri Lankan refugee, whose parents died because of a strange disease and Jothi's only aim in life is to become a doctor.
A reformed Kalinga start taking up jobs like driving an auto, to make Jothi's ambition come true. On the other side, Chanakya realises that Kalinga has reformed and beats him up. Kalinga escapes and waits for a chance to take revenge on Chanakya. One day, he goes to Chanakya's house and hits him on the head. Meanwhile Jothi gets admission in a university abroad to pursue higher studies. But the day she leaves, things go wrong for Kalinga. And to know what happens later, watch the movie on the silver screen.
Performance:
Though the actors have tried to give a good performance, there is a complete absence of logic in the plot. Bala played his role well. Nandana's character is not etched properly. Rajan P.Dev suited well as Kalinga's mentor. Direction is good in some places. The other aspects are okay.
