On entry into films: ...
I’m from Bangalore. I’ve done a number of ads for jewellery and textiles, and after seeing my pictures, lot of people approached me with film offers. But I was never keen, until Bharathy Raja who has discovered talents like Revathy, Radhika, Radha and Ranjitha approached me for his film. I could not resist the offer. That’s how Kangalal Kaidhu Sei happened.
On Bharathy Raja:
Bharathy Raja sir is like an acting school. He used to enact each and every scene before a shot. He pays attention to minute details of the film. He’s a sensitive, emotional person and I’ve heard he gets so involved in the film that he even goes to the extent of slapping his heroines if he is not satisfied with the expressions. I was scared initially, but fortunately, nothing like that happened with me.
On Adhu Oru Kanaa Kaalam:
I’m delighted about the role. It’s very deglamourised, there’s no make up. I play the beautiful daughter of a housemaid and I have lots of scope to perform. This film will give me a chance to show my talents. I have a lot of expectations from this film.
On Balu Mahendra:
The amount of silence on his sets and the way he extracts work from everyone is amazing. Basically he is an intense person, but he knows how to get the best out of his actors. He won’t let go until he gets the right expression from us, but he also gives us a lot of freedom to emote naturally.
Her kind of roles:
Glamourous roles have their own merits. I’ll do whatever roles make me happy. I just want to look beautiful on screen and the roles should be good. As for gossip, I don’t care. I know what I am.
Her future films:
In Tamil, I’m doing Thotta with Jeevan. A few Malayalam offers have come, but I’m still listening to the scripts.
