'Ayitha Ezhuthu' is Loosely based on Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Oscar-nominated Spanish film AMORES PERROS. Every frame of Madras Talkies' "Aayudha Ezhuthu" bears the Mani Ratnam stamp and that's what matters. The entire approach is positive and hence heartening. Three totally different characters converge at a point. And though diametrically opposite in attitude and aspirations each one's life gets tangled with the other.
Story
The film starts with an incident involving all the three heroes of the film. However, the flashback of each of the hero was explained one after the other. Inba [Madhavan] is a goon, who works for a Minister called Kovvuri Ankaiah [Bharatiraja]. He doesn't mind to do any job for money. Sasi [Meera Jasmine] is his wife. She loves her husband very much and Inba also loves her so much. Michael [Surya] is a student leader. He is very good at studies and gets a special and distinguished scholarship to study abroad. But he rejects it and decides to go in for a pitched battle against Ankaiah and his murky politics. Ankaiah unable to digest his growing popularity sends Inba to warn Michael or teach him a lesson. However, Michael teaches Inba a lesson and hence he decides to take revenge against Michael. Arjun [Siddartha] is a playboy and is the son of an IAS officer. He completes his engineering graduation. His father wanted to send him for IAS, but Arjun plans to go to the US and enjoy the white babes, by earning dollars. He accidentally meets Meera [Trisha] at a pub and falls in love with her.
Inba, in order to take revenge, shoots Michael to death and fires three rounds on him. Michael falls in the river. Arjun who noticed it jumps into the river and saves him. Michael decides to enter politics and contest the by-elections. He takes the help of Arjun and two others and all of them jump into election fray. As Arjun takes a decision to join politics and contest elections, he puts off his US programme. Now Ankaiah's position falls into a quandary as he could not cause any harm to them, as the blame will come against him. So he sends Inba to kidnap the three followers of Michael to threaten him. The plan gets implemented in a perfect manner and they get kidnapped. But, Inba's friend Delhi [Sriman] did not like this and releases them. He also advises Inba to leave the job and go to his native place and lead a peaceful life with his wife Sasi. This did not look good for Inba who kills Delhi and chases Arjun. Somehow Michael reaches the spot and clashes with Inba. After a tough fight, Michael makes Inba to bite the dust. The film ends on a happy note with the four friends entering the Assembly as MLAs.
Music
A.R.Rehman’s music is impressive.
Performance
Madhavan gave splendid performance as a lower middle class ruffian. Surya is the pivot. The actor who has been blessed with a winning streak in recent times makes a mark yet again.
Siddharth gave a neat performance. Meera Jasmine as Sasi proves an apt foil for the thug Inba. Trisha is appealing. Esha (debut in Tamil) gave a commendable performance.
