| 'April Maathathil' is just another youth-based college campus caper. Panneer Selvam's quality cinematography needs a special mention. The youthful scene settings make the film more lively. Stanley's direction is good. Shrikanth is a poor student. Once he goes to a women's college to collect money for his MCA studies. He gets in touch with a rich girl Shweta (Sneha). They become close friends. But their friendship is misinterpreted by everybody and soon gossips begin. Eventually they fall in love. But, they continue their chaste behavior. They do not reveal their inner feelings to each other so that their friendship will not end. After some heartburns and silent sufferings they finally open their hearts.
In the climax, Sneha and Shrikanth sit (with their backs to each other) near the tree that was chopped down in their memory and cry, thinking about their failed love and Sneha's pending marriage the next day. Sneha's father Devan decides to unite the lovers without thinking about the consequences. Shrikanth and Sneha's onscreen chemistry is good. Sneha looks gorgeous her performance looks natural as she fits into the character completely. Shrikanth has done a good job in playing the role of a college going hero. He has improved greatly when compared to his first film. Yuvan Shankar Raaja's music score is good. |
