'Aathi - 2006' is the remake of Telugu hit 'Athanokkade'. The film is a revenge drama wih some interesting sequences which holds an attraction to all the cine-goers. Director Ramana has handled it smoothly.
The movie begins with Anjali (Trisha), dressed in mikly white clothes sitting on a chair feeding a pigeon, whips a shining knife into Devan. Aathi (Vijay), is brought up by foster parents (Seetha and Manivannan) in New Delhi. He comes to Chennai to take up a course in a college, with an mission to take revenge upon the killers of his family. Anjali, aided by her uncle (Nasser), also studies in the same college. She has the same misssion as that of Aathi. Aathi and Anjali fall in love and set out to hunt their antagonists. How did both manage to take revenge upon the arch villain (Sai Kumar), the main target of their revenge, forms rest of the story.
Performance:
Vijay suits better in the title role. His dance performance is good. Trisha shows her dual dimensions in this movie and performs well. Sai Kumar also did well as the villain. The rest of the cast have done adequately. The music rendered by Vidyasagar is the highlight in the movie. The suspence sequences forms the other highlight of the movie. There are remarkable action sequences in the movie. Director Ramana has successfully given his movie, keeping in view the Telugu movie, which is the grand success. All the other technical aspects of the film are ok.
